A Japanese lantern, but made of French linen with black dots: the Yumi by Nobodinoz is a linen lantern pendant lamp with a surprisingly soft look. The top is finely pleated, there’s a ring in the middle that gives it shape, and at the bottom the fabric is tied together with a black ribbon. That little bow completes the look.

The dots aren’t neatly lined up, but dance across the fabric in little groups, as if someone had stamped them on by hand. When the lamp is switched on, the linen takes on a warm glow and the dots become a kind of play of shadows.

With a diameter of 50 cm and a height of 30 cm, the Yumi is a generous-sized lamp. It’s from the Home collection by Nobodinoz, but I can just as easily picture it hanging in a calm child’s or teenager’s room as above the dining table. A lamp that combines softness and character, and that you won’t tire of quickly.

Frequently asked questions

What’s the difference from the Black Dots lampshade by Nobodinoz?
The Yumi is a lantern: larger (Ø 50 cm), with a pleated top and a bottom tied closed with a little ribbon. The Black Dots from the Vibes collection is a sleek 40 cm drum lampshade. The Yumi therefore gives off a softer, more enveloping light.

What is the ribbon at the bottom for?
Use the black ribbon to tie the bottom of the lantern together. This gives it its distinctive lantern shape. It's also a playful detail that completes the lamp.

Will a 50 cm lantern fit in a child's room?
It certainly works in an average to large children's room, especially as the main light in the center of the ceiling. It may look a little large in a small nursery. In that case, hang it in the living room or above the dining table instead.

How do I wash this linen lantern?
According to the label, hand wash only. Do not bleach, tumble dry, iron, or dry clean. In between washes, dusting with a soft brush is usually enough.

Does it come with a cord and bulb?
No, you get the linen shade with the black iron frame. You can buy the cord, socket, and bulb separately. A warm white LED bulb works best with a fabric shade.
