Big outside world, Lord we come!
Winter has officially started and that means that it gets colder outside and is slightly higher inside the heating.
You feel a little better again after the birth, your baby grows well and keep itself up to temperature. Great a bit of fresh air again and stimulate the production of vitamin D. In short: you can't wait to show your little one on the outside world and test that beautiful pram. Come on!
But as a new -born mother you of course have no idea what to put on your baby to be able to go outside. No problem! Below you will find some tips to ensure that your baby does not get too cold or too hot.
- A hat! Did you know that your baby loses a quarter of his warmth through the head? A nice warm hat on that little head outside is definitely a must!
- Warm clothing: dress your little one nice and warm, for example a nice warm sweater with slightly thicker pants. Exaggerating is also a profession and not necessary at all, does not dress your baby with 5 layers over each other. There is a good chance that he will get too hot.
Put a nice warm jacket over the clothes and the foundation is laid! - Warm blanket or footmuff: Put your little one in the pram with a nice soft blanket or a delicious footmuff is also very nice!
- Jug: If it is very cold outside and your baby is still very small, then it is also nice to put a wonderful hot jug (or an alternative) in the pram.
Ready to go outside? Don't forget to raise the hood of the pram and make sure that no cold wind can get into the pram.
How do you know if your little one is not too hot or too cold?
It is important to think logically and to check your baby regularly. Feel the hands, ears and the face regularly whether they are not too cold. A warm neck often indicates that your little one is warm enough. If your baby is sweating, you know that he has been packed a little too well.
Are you going back into the car after a wonderful winter walk? Then open the jacket a little, otherwise it can get it too hot.
Scandinavia
Did you know that in Scandinavia children are often put outside in the pram to sleep? We also see it here more and more often, since the air outside is often healthier than inside. Make sure your child is old and stable enough to keep herself warm, from a week or 2 old you can do this. And also take the temperature outside into account, at temperatures below -10 degrees you better let your child sleep inside.
